Like many celebrities, Jenner is active on many different social media platforms, but one that has recently been in question is Snapchat. Does Kylie Jenner still do Snapchat?
Overview of Snapchat
Snapchat is a photo and video messaging application and social platform where users can share quick snaps and videos with their friends. It first launched in 2011 but didn’t get mainstream attention until 2013 when it began to gain users rapidly. The app has become a reference for content sharing, especially in the young teenage demographic. Every user has a profile where they can add friends, post pictures, videos and stories. Stories appear at the top of a user’s profile page and disappear after 24 hours.

Since the beginning of her television career on Keeping up with the Kardashians, Kylie Jenner has had a huge presence on Snapchat. At its peak in early 2017, Kylie had over 19 million Snapchat followers and reached 2 billion overall views. As of May 2019, her following is up to over 25 million and her views have reached north of 3 billion.
Kylie was known to post several stories a day and had even created her own Snapchat show, The Kylie Quiz, where she tested the knowledge of her fans and answered questions sent to her by followers.

Rumors of Kylie Jenner’s departure from Snapchat have been in the headlines for some time now. At the end of February 2018, when Kylie reportedly stopped posting stories on Snapchat, some thought she had quit. However, it turns out she just took a break from the platform. After extending her break for nearly a month, she returned to the popular platform the first week of April 2018.
Since then, Kylie Jenner has continued to post stories on Snapchat occasionally. She averages about a story a week now and mostly posts about her new products and appearances.
But why the change?
Kylie seems to be taking more of a shift from Snapchat in favor of other, more lucrative, platforms. Kylie’s Instagram, for instance, is much more useful for product promotion than Snapchat. Kylie’s Instagram followers alone are nearly double the amount of her Snapchat followers. By maintaining a large presence on Instagram, Kylie is able to promote her various projects, including her cosmetics line and clothing line, to a larger number of people. Snapchat may have been the start of Kylie’s online career, but the platform is not as profitable as other platforms right now.
In addition to Instagram, Kylie has taken to YouTube to promote her brand. She currently has 20 million subscribers to her channel and videos regularly get millions of views. This demonstrates Kylie’s ability to recognize where her brand is most successful and her willingness to adapt accordingly.
Despite rumors that she was leaving Snapchat, Kylie Jenner is still a regular on the popular platform. Although she has shifted a lot of her focus to other, more lucrative, platforms such as Instagram and YouTube, she still posts stories on Snapchat about once a week. Kylie Jenner may be taking a more strategic approach to her brand and leaving more image-based platforms for those that are better for product promotion and content creation. Despite all this, it is safe to say that Kylie Jenner still does Snapchat.
